I’ve been thinking about…staring up at the sky
“So, what does staring up at the sky mean? Pondering, mulling over, chewing, daydreaming, reflecting, ruminating…”
On this week’s episode of I’ve been thinking about (IBTA) I’m talking about the importance of giving space to daydream and how it’s an essential part of creating. staring up at the sky. Creating space to stare up at the sky is not only a joyful and natural outworking of how we create, it’s actually good for us, it’s a better and more effective way to work.
Neuroscientist, Dr Caroline Leaf in her book How to Switch on Your Brain says:
’what research shows is that when we go into a directed rest - a focused, introspective state - we enhance and increase the effectiveness of the activity in the nonconscious’ … ‘In this directed rest state, you focus inward, you introspect, and you appear to slow down; but actually, your mental resources speed up and your thinking moves onto a higher level’.
